Music devices have changed immensely over the years. From record players to MP3s. In April 1989 Fraunhofer received a German patent for MP3s. They were made because so people could listen to music in a small device. Their use to be things like CDs and cassettes. It was in the early 1990s when they made the first MP3. It was unsuccessful though. There almost was no MP3, because in 1991 it was not working properly. Before they submitted the first version of the MP3 they found the problem. In 1999 Portable MP3 players were made. In February 1999 a record company called SubPop is the first to distribute music tracks in the MP3 format. Fortunately we have MP3s and not giant music devices like record players.
